Job description

Assertive Outreach Worker

Location: Telford

Salary: £25,842 - £27,882 per annum

Contract: Fixed term until 3rd June 2026, 37 hours per week

We are part of Recovery Focus, a national group of charities experienced in providing specialist support services to individuals and families affected by mental health issues, substance use, gambling, and domestic violence. We believe recovery is unique to each individual, and with the right support, recovery is possible for everyone.

Telford STaRS, a partnership between Inclusion, Aquarius, and Willowdene, is the first contact point for those experiencing drug or alcohol-related issues in Telford and Wrekin. The service is free, confidential, and serves both children and young people aged 10+ and adults 18+. We are seeking a flexible individual with a good understanding of the functional model of substance abuse to join our team.

Your role will involve identifying and engaging with local communities, groups, agencies, and individuals to assess alcohol and drug-related harms and the need for interventions, information, and training. Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with various agencies will be essential. Promoting equality, diversity, and rights throughout your work is also a key responsibility.

You should be able to recognize signs of substance misuse, conduct screenings, assessments, provide support and interventions, and make referrals as needed. Experience in providing long-term, flexible support tailored to complex needs is important, along with strong record-keeping skills. We value energetic self-starters who work well independently and within a team, with experience in delivering training and a genuinely sympathetic approach.
