As Manager, Tax (Global Employment Tax (GET) and Corporate Tax Strategy) you will work as part of the tax team to assist in managing changing priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The role will sit in both the GET and Corporate Tax Strategy teams, and contribute as Liberty Global supports its wholly owned businesses, joint ventures and minority investments (the “Federation”).
You must be proactive, have an enthusiasm for on-the-job learning, be able to manage multiple work priorities as well as maintain cross-functional working relationships.
What will you be doing?
- Managing LG Ltd’s consolidated Bermuda, UK tax and Pillar 2 positions (including CFC position, UK International Movement of Capital rules and global Pillar 2 impact).
- Responsible for managing various GET and Tax projects and work-streams. Includes tax technical analysis, project management and change management activities.
- Provide advisory support and resolve GET and Corporate Tax queries from the Federation. Working together with local Tax, Finance or HR teams as needed.
- Lead/support on GET and Corporate Tax aspects of M&A activity, or tax audits.
- Build network by collaboratively working with and being highly visible to other internal stakeholders including Business Integration, Capital Allocation, Compliance and Reporting, Treasury, M&A, Legal and Reward.
- Assist in accurate and complete identification and analysis of GET and Corporate Tax risks and opportunities, ensuring timely and complete communication to relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor tax legislation changes and consider impact on operations. Research complex tax concepts and provide key input to relevant stakeholders in the context of various initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for GET/Corporate Tax to be a facilitator of business/commercial ideas and to identify or maximise a tax-efficient position.
- Use technology to increase efficiency.
- Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset to identify relevant parts of Liberty Global where central expertise and experience can be leveraged thereby creating value for the relevant business and revenue opportunities for Liberty Global.
- Partner with relevant Liberty Blume teams to increase efficiency of relevant tax compliance reporting and develop service offering and to grow external customer base.
- Contribute to team building and technical training of the group.
- Be a strong representative of the LG Tax Team, an expert point of contact for key stakeholders and handle relationships with external advisors (including managing fee arrangements on allocated projects).
GET Specific
- Assist in setting and maintaining GET policies, including those relating to cross-border workers, employer compliance obligations in various territories, reviewing short-term business travel across the group and ensuring all expatriate tax issues are mitigated.
- Work with Payroll and Finance on processes and compliance for domestic and internationally mobile employees and business travellers (including share based equity compensation, and other trailing income).
- Support driving visibility of employment tax costs and advising on saving opportunities in Central and other locations.
- Research & learn employment tax rules across various group jurisdictions (including UK, NL, US, Ireland & Belgium), to advise business units / Federation entities.
Corporate Tax Specific
- Assist in identifying, evaluating and developing Corporation Tax strategies that ensure the Global Tax position of Liberty Global is optimised.
- Working closely with Blume Tax Compliance team to ensure technical tax concepts are correctly applied in the filing obligations, for quarterly reporting and facilitate smooth collaboration on LG Central forecasting and governance matters.
- Assist with quarterly tax provisioning process across Liberty Global group.
