Job description

Job Title: Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner

Salary:

  • Grade 5 SCP 18-22 = £30,559 - £32,654 per annum (pro rata)
  • 35 Hours = 94.59% = £28,905 - £30,887 per annum
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner to help establish our own residential children's home within Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. This is an exciting opportunity as the local authority begins to develop a residential service to support children and young people in our care.

Responsibilities
  1. Providing a safe and secure environment for children and young people.
  2. Supporting children to reach their full potential through emotional and social support.
  3. Managing challenging behavior and understanding early childhood trauma.
  4. Contributing to the management team, supporting the Manager, and guiding staff based on your experience.
  5. Establishing a cohesive team to deliver quality care.
  6. Working on a rota basis, including some sleep-in shifts, to support 24-hour care.
Requirements
  • Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People or equivalent.
  • Evidence of all essential qualifications.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
