Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer for Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities in designated motorway areas including M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Join a supportive team where initiative and problem-solving are valued. Your role involves delivering and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, or civils works, essential for maintaining the nation's critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

• Attending to cable and repair breaks on copper and fibre cables.
• Completing equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Addressing equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
• Maintaining and testing fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing documentation accurately and promptly.

Ideal candidate:

Has previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing skills in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of Telecommunication networks, Copper jointing, Fibre Splicing & Testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Availability for overtime or callouts.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
