Salary – National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £39,100 to £55,000 and London
£41,600 to £60,000 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Team

The Communications department sits at the core of the FCA’s voice – shaping what we say, how we say it, and why it matters. We set the strategic direction for all external communications, ensuring every message is clear, concise, and compelling.

This role is part of the Strategic Communications & News team. We work closely with strategic partners and teams across the business to create high-impact content – from website copy and corporate publications to op-eds, blogs, and speeches – that drives our messages home.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with Strategic Communication Partners to ensure key messages for written content are developed at an early stage of work and embedded in relevant communications

  • Working with colleagues across the FCA and supporting Senior Associates to draft and edit a range of materials, such as blogs, op-eds and forewords, as well as providing feedback to other drafters

  • Editing our publications so they are clear, concise and meet our plain English standards, and, where necessary, peer-writing with other colleagues across the FCA

  • Support Senior Associates in embedding the editorial approach for the FCA, including tone of voice and content and copywriting standards, and championing understanding of these standards across the FCA

  • Working with editorial colleagues to ensure end-to-end quality of individual drafting and editorial projects, working collaboratively with Digital Editors, Design and Production to ensure the written content works for the relevant channel and format


What will you get from the role?

  • As a key member of theStrategic Communications and News teamwithin the Communications division, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how the FCA communicates with the outside world – collaborating closely with colleagues across the division to deliver high-impact messaging

  • You’ll craft and refine written communications that reflect the full scope of the FCA’s work – ranging from press releases and policy documents to reports and digital content. Your writing will be clear, accessible, and aligned with the FCA’s regulatory objectives, helping to inform, influence, and inspire confidence among our stakeholders

  • The content you produce or edit will be theFCA’s public voice – our shop window to the world. Your ability to deliver precise, engaging, and accessible communications will be central to how we’re perceived, making a direct contribution to our reputation and effectiveness as a regulator

Minimum

  • Experienced in simplifying complex regulatory language into clear, accessible and engaging content while ensuring accuracy and compliance

  • Proven experience of developing compelling written materials across multiple formats, including reports, press releases and content for digital platforms

  • Proven track recorded of working across various media channels, adapting content for social media, blogs and online publications to maximise impact

Essential

  • Ability to craft, edit and refine high-quality content, supported by a portfolio showcasing copywriting or editorial work

  • Previous experience in a similar role, demonstrating familiarity with editorial standards, communications strategies or regulatory content

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues to develop and refine complex content, ensuring clarity and accessibility

  • Skilled in maintaining precision in written materials, ensuring consistency, compliance and alignment with organisational messaging

  • Comfortable creating content across multiple mediums, including reports, press releases and for digital platforms
