Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Fixed-term Junior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department for 12 months. The post holder will support the ED Matron and senior sisters, assess care needs and develop care programmes with the multidisciplinary team.

You will teach and supervise both qualified and unqualified staff, take charge of a group of patients, and act as a role model while maintaining professional standards and accountability.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in nursing, or equivalent experience.
• Emergency & Unscheduled Care Course or equivalent.
• Current NMC registration.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the ED Matron and senior sisters in running the Emergency Department.
• Ensuring patients are seen, treated, discharged or transferred within the four-hourly emergency access standards.
• Assessing patients' care needs.
• Developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care with the multidisciplinary team.
• Teaching and supervising qualified and unqualified staff.
• Acting as a role model for junior staff.
• Taking responsibility and accountability for a group of patients.
• Taking charge of the department when necessary.
