About the role

We are seeking an economist to join our Policy Solutions Team to lead our new flagship project: Future Fit for a Just Transition. This project aims to advance a just transition to a net zero, nature-positive economy and financial system, aligning with our strategic priorities. The role involves focusing on the international implementation of this transition, identifying best practices and challenges across countries to facilitate shared learning, promote healthy competition, and develop collaborative solutions to accelerate progress.

Your responsibilities will include leading the methodological development and execution of the technical work underpinning the programme, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and developing economic metrics to measure national progress on the just transition. You will create impactful knowledge products, undertake international engagement, and produce reports and briefings. Managing consultants and leading the flagship report are also key aspects, as well as advocating for policy change and building strategic partnerships within WWF and with other organizations.

We are looking for someone with:

• An understanding of how policy is influenced both within and outside government.

• Experience in influencing stakeholders, including government and business sectors, to change opinions, practices, and develop new models for policy and business transition.

• A degree in economics or relevant experience in economic policy and analysis.

• Strong research skills, experience commissioning research, and using economic analysis and quantitative methodologies to analyze problems and develop solutions.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.

Benefits, rewards & location

The salary ranges from GBP43,851 to GBP56,386. Our benefits include:

• Starting annual leave of 26 days, increasing to 31 days plus bank holidays.

This is a hybrid role requiring 20% office presence at our UK head office, the Living Planet Centre in Woking, Surrey, a highly eco-friendly building surrounded by gardens and trees.
