Job description

Are you passionate about Economics and driven to inspire the next generation of business thinkers and economic leaders?
Whether you're an experienced teacher or just completing your PGCE, this dynamic Manchester secondary school is seeking a dedicated Economics and Business Teacher ready to bring complex concepts to life and empower students to think critically about the world around them.

Position: Secondary Economics and Business Teacher
Location: Manchester, M8
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: £150–£230 per day (dependent on experience)
Age Group: KS4 / KS5
Contract: Full-Time

About the Role: Join a forward-thinking Humanities and Social Sciences department where Economics takes centre stage. You'll teach a stimulating curriculum that helps students explore key economic principles—like supply and demand, inflation, market structures, and government intervention—while also integrating practical business knowledge that prepares them for real-world decision-making.
Whether it's guiding students through their first macroeconomic model or encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, your lessons will challenge, inspire, and prepare learners for further study and beyond.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Delivering engaging and insightful lessons in Economics and Business to KS4 and KS5 students
• Making abstract economic theories relevant and relatable through real-life case studies and interactive projects
• Supporting students through their GCSE and A-Level journeys with clear feedback and targeted interventions
• Fostering debate and independent thinking on topics like global markets, inequality, and policy decisions
• Collaborating with colleagues to deliver a robust, forward-looking curriculum

What We’re Looking For:
• QTS or PGCE in Economics, Business Studies, or a related subject
• Strong subject knowledge, particularly in micro and macroeconomics
• Passion for helping students understand the impact of economics in their daily lives and the wider world
• Confidence teaching KS4 and KS5, with a student-centred, reflective teaching style
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and dynamically
• Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply through Smile Education

Located in the M8 area of Manchester, this high-performing and inclusive secondary school was rated "Good" by Ofsted in 2022. The leadership team is committed to academic excellence, holistic development, and supporting staff through ongoing professional development and mentorship.
The school is well-regarded for fostering an ambitious culture that values both achievement and wellbeing.
