Job summary

West Midlands Police seeks an Intelligence Officer within the Regional Economic Crime Unit (RECU WM) proactive function. You will provide intelligence support across the PECT, CAT and PMLT teams to disrupt serious and organised crime in the region.

The successful candidate will work from Lloyd House, Birmingham, on a fixed-term contract until April 2029. Salary is Grade 6: £38,169–£44,700, with shift patterns Monday to Friday 8–4 and travel across the region as required.

Responsibilities

• Act as applicant for Directed Surveillance Authorities (DSAs) and apply covert techniques knowledge.
• Receive, develop, research, source and disseminate intelligence to support investigations.
• Evaluate intelligence and prepare intelligence assessments.
• Comply with handling and disclosure requirements under DPA, MOPI, IPA and CPIA.
• Interrogate force and national databases and conduct open-source research per NPCC guidelines.
