Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Police Staff Investigator to join a busy team handling safeguarding and criminal matters. You will manage your own caseload, conduct investigations, liaise with partner agencies, and work to strict timescales across Coventry, Perry Barr, Oldbury, West Bromwich, and Edgbaston.

The role requires strong evidence-gathering, interviewing, and case management skills, with hybrid working and initial office-based training.

Qualifications

• Previous investigative experience within policing, law enforcement, safeguarding, or a similar environment.
• Strong evidence-gathering, interviewing, and case management skills.
• Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Experience preparing case files for court is desirable.

Job description

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Police Staff Investigator to join a busy investigation team working on complex and sensitive safeguarding matters. This role plays a key part in protecting vulnerable individuals, supporting victims, and contributing to successful criminal investigations.

Based across sites in Coventry, Perry Barr, Oldbury, West Bromwich, and Edgbaston, you will manage your own caseload, conduct investigations, liaise with partner agencies, and work to strict timescales. Investigations may involve offences relating to physical violence, sexual violence, safeguarding concerns, and online offending.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct investigations and gather evidence relating to a range of safeguarding and criminal matters.
• Manage cases from initial enquiry through to conclusion.
• Work closely with partner agencies to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
• Obtain witness statements, review evidence, and support investigative activities.
• Prepare and complete prosecution files for court proceedings.
• Maintain accurate records and comply with relevant policies and procedures.
• Work effectively to deadlines while managing a varied caseload.

About You:

Working Pattern:
