Job summary

NMWTRA in Bangor is seeking an Assistant Ecologist to assist with the implementation of Welsh Government policies and ecological advice related to biodiversity. Key responsibilities include providing support to teams and managing ecological projects to enhance environmental compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Ecology or related fields and experience in ecological surveys and understanding legislation. Skills in GIS and report writing are essential, and a commitment to environmental best practices is required.

Qualifications

• Degree or MSc in Zoology, Botany, Ecology or relevant ecological subject.
• Experience in ecological surveys for species and habitats.
• Understanding of common protected species ecology.
• Good knowledge of Wales/UK environmental legislation.

Responsibilities

• Assist Climate Change and Environmental Team with implementation of legislation.
• Provide ecological advice and support to NMWTRA and partners.
• Manage soft estate inventory and propose enhancement projects.
