Pay rate £35.52 per hour

Contract role, Planning Ecologist

We are seeking to recruit a planning ecologist with excellent communication skills to support the delivery of development that enhances the built and natural environment in a Local Authority in South Wales.

The post holder will provide specialist advice and information on ecology (and nutrient neutrality) concerning the land use planning process, primarily in respect of the Local Planning Authority's Development Management function, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy.

1. You will need a degree in ecology or a related subject with significant relevant experience.
2. Knowledge of applicable legislation such as the Habitats Regulations and planning legislation and guidance is essential.
3. You will be an articulate and effective communicator, self-motivated, organized, and highly computer literate, including experience with GIS and databases.

The post is likely to be part-time, with hours dependent on relevant experience and associated costs. This is a fixed-term appointment until the end of December 2025. Home-based working will be considered.
