Job summary

United Infrastructure is seeking an Ecologist / Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to provide specialist ecological advice and on-site support across major Scottish infrastructure and construction projects.

Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will work with project teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, licences, and client commitments while managing ecological risks and supervising mitigation on site.

Qualifications

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related field.
• Membership of CIEEM or equivalent professional body.
• Full UK Driving Licence and readiness for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Act as ECoW for construction activities requiring ecological supervision.
• Undertake pre-construction ecological checks and surveys.
• Provide watching briefs during sensitive construction activities.
• Monitor compliance with ecological mitigation requirements.
• Identify ecological risks and advise on controls.
• Establish ecological exclusion zones and buffers.
• Maintain accurate ecological records.
