Job summary

Assured Safety Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an Ecologist to join its HSQE team in the West Midlands or Surrey with travel across the UK. The role involves ecological surveys, site inspections and supporting environmental management across civil engineering projects.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Ecology, has ecology experience on construction projects, and a valid UK driving licence with willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• A degree in Ecology or related Environmental discipline.
• Experience in ecology supporting construction, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• Sound understanding of UK environmental legislation.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work across multiple projects and travel, with a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking pre-construction ecological surveys, including protected species and INNS.
• Carrying out bird nesting surveys and ecological site inspections.
• Supporting the preparation of Environmental Management Plans.
• Visiting live construction sites to undertake environmental audits and inspections.
• Assisting with waste sampling, classification and environmental monitoring.
• Delivering toolbox talks and environmental awareness training.
• Carrying out desk studies to identify sensitive ecological sites.
• Monitoring water quality and environmental controls during construction activities.

Assured Safety Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit an Ecologist to join its established Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Ecologist looking to broaden their experience across civil engineering, construction, infrastructure and maintenance projects. The Role

• Undertaking pre-construction ecological surveys, including protected species and invasive non-native species (INNS).
• Carrying out bird nesting surveys and ecological site inspections.
• Supporting the preparation of Environmental Management Plans.
• Visiting live construction sites to undertake environmental audits and inspections.
• Assisting with waste sampling, classification and environmental monitoring.
• Delivering toolbox talks and environmental awareness training.
• Carrying out desk studies to identify sensitive ecological and designated sites.
• Monitoring water quality and environmental controls during construction activities.

About You

• A degree in Ecology or a related Environmental discipline.
• Experience within ecology, ideally supporting construction, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
• A sound understanding of UK environmental legislation.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work across multiple projects and build positive relationships with site teams.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
