38,000 (dependent on experience)We are seeking an Ecologist to join our Environmental and Sustainability clients. The role involves a blend of remote and on-site work, with periodic office-based requirements. Role comes with a salary of up to 38,000, depending on experience, plus vehicle.
Responsibilities for Ecologist- Conduct site visits to survey and study animals, plants, and the environment, ensuring accurate ecological data collection.
- Produce Preliminary Ecological Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments.
- Develop ecological reports, specifications, and detailed habitat and species records.
- Carry out protected species surveys, including associated management and protection strategies.
- Provide expert advice on environmental and ecological legislation.
- Collaborate with the UAV Operations team to analyse aerial drone footage for ecological assessments.
- Calculate biodiversity scoring using the DEFRA Biodiversity Metric.
- Undertake primary and secondary Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) surveys, producing reports and site management specifications.
- Act as an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECOW) to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, contractual obligations, and Network Rail standards.
- Liaise with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to develop and promote positive working relationships.
Requirements for Ecologist- Degree in Ecology or a related field.
- CIEEM membership (minimum ACIEEM or working towards).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong report writing skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Protected species licence(s).
- Ecological consultancy experience.
- Knowledge of Network Rail Biodiversity Standards.
