About the Company

Available with a multidisciplinary consultancy group, focusing on ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) projects across mid- and Northern regions. Offering a salary of up to £45,000 plus benefits and the opportunity to lead the development of the ecology team as the business expands.

This growing consultancy has approximately 60 staff members across several offices, providing a range of services to clients across the UK. Ecology and biodiversity net gain are increasingly important areas for the group, and they are looking to appoint an ecologist who can collaborate with internal teams and coordinate external freelancers for various projects nationwide. The ideal candidate will be eager to advance their career and contribute to shaping the team in the coming months.

Role & Responsibilities

• Support the wider group with ecology and BNG assessments
• Conduct site and client visits across the region
• Assess BNG options for planning applications and biodiversity gain plans
• Carry out habitat surveys, EIAs, and enhancement plans
• Coordinate external freelancers and contractors for ecological surveys
• Prepare reports and assist with planning submissions
• Contribute to the growth of the department as the business expands

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a similar role (Ecologist, EIA, BNG Specialist, or similar)
• Experience with BNG impact assessments
• Ecological survey experience
• Experience purchasing biodiversity units and credits as part of offset schemes
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle
• Consultancy experience is highly desirable
