Job description

Perform daily clinical operations of the Echocardiography Lab, including:
  1. Performing Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Contrast Studies using Definity, Bubble Studies, Stress Echocardiograms, and Chemical Stress Echocardiograms.
  2. Providing preliminary interpretation of studies, including assessment of ventricular performance.
  3. Assisting during transesophageal procedures.
  4. Using 2D, M-Mode, and Doppler techniques to evaluate and record anatomical, pathological, and functional data, aiding in diagnosis and treatment.
  5. Assessing patients, developing plans for procedures, setting up rooms and equipment, and ensuring quality images.
Responsibilities:
  • Explain procedures and answer patient questions to ensure comfort.
  • Perform routine and emergency echocardiograms independently, recognizing abnormalities and notifying cardiologists as needed.
  • Recognize the need for contrast agent Definity, administer it after passing competency training, and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Download, prepare, and maintain records of echocardiograms for review and interpretation.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies to ensure continuous service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications:
  • Training from a Cardiovascular program required.
  • Minimum of three years of practical experience or equivalent.
  • RDMS or RCS certification required.
