Here at Serco, we're looking for a Building Craftsperson (Carpenter) to join us at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, offering a unique opportunity to work in a diverse environment providing a wide scope for development of skills and knowledge across the wider building trade as well as making a positive difference in supporting the NHS and community we support.
Reporting into the Building Supervisor you will be part of the building maintenance team responsible for providing the building maintenance across the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital site as part of Serco's Hard FM estates service to the NHS.
Main Accountabilities
The post holder will ensure that the hospitals' building and fabric services and equipment are maintained to a high standard and ensure their continued quality, safety and reliability.
You will undertake building and fabric planned preventative maintenance as well as first response to carry out repairs as requested by the client and be supported with any associated training requirements i.e. steps & ladders, health and safety, working at heights etc. This work will typically include:
Fire Door maintenance - routine inspections and repairs under an approved repair scheme.
Fire stopping/compartmentation work subject to suitable training - installation and repairs.
Flooring repairs.
Suspended ceiling repairs.
Dry lining works including plaster boarding.
Door maintenance to include installation and ironmongery (locks, closers, kick plates, handles etc.).
Windows - maintain & repair to include glazing repair work.
Window restrictors.
Guttering
Roof repairs
What you'll need to do the role:
To be considered for this role you will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar maintenance role and working within a large complex service organisation and hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2. It is preferable that you have knowledge of the building trade as this will be an advantage. You will need to demonstrate a professional approach, strong awareness to health and safety, good communication and customer service skills and be able to work well in high pressure situations.
