Ralmax Group of Companies is a diversified group of local industrial businesses focused in and around Victoria’s working harbour. The business focuses on environmental contracting; deconstruction and excavation; recycling, ship repair & retrofit; and metals fabrication and structural steel.

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Construction Labourer to join our team. As a Construction Laborer, you will perform diverse tasks across construction and utility projects, including installing and maintaining underground utility systems, executing general construction labour (e.g., trenching, pipe laying, concrete work, scaffolding), and collaborating with tradespeople and equipment operators. This role demands adherence to safety protocols, quality workmanship, tool proficiency, and effective teamwork.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utility systems (water, electricity, gas, and sewer) as well as general construction activities.
  • Excavate trenches, install conduits, lay pipes, and place vaults and manholes according to project plans and relevant standards.
  • Execute construction operations including loading and unloading materials, erecting and dismantling scaffolding and formwork, mixing and pouring construction materials, and assisting tradespeople in various tasks.
  • Collaborate with heavy equipment operators, perform drilling and blasting operations, level earth, demolish buildings, and collect and dispose of construction debris.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and standards at every stage of the work, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with safety procedures for working at heights, in excavations, and with hazardous materials.
  • Conduct quality control inspections and troubleshoot installation issues, ensuring the accuracy and precision of the work performed.
  • Use and maintain hand and power tools correctly and safely, following safety guidelines for their operation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times, adhering to health and environmental regulations.
  • Cooperate and interact effectively with other team members, including supervisors, engineers, and other construction workers and utility technicians.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or project manager.

Employment Requirements:

  • Some experience as a general construction labourer.
  • Knowledge of conduit systems, vault placement, and maintenance techniques.
  • One season of experience in oil and gas pipeline construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps.
  • Capable of working in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • A traffic control certificate may be required.
  • On-the-job training may be provided.

  • Standing on your feet for several hours.
  • Making repetitive motions.
  • Skilled in operating equipment ranging from handheld tools to large-scale machinery.
