About the Role

Bend-tech has excellent, proven growth with impressive further growth potential. Part of this growth is the need for a Senior / Lead Engineer, ideally with a structural background. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our overall group knowledge in Engineering and lift engineering outputs.

About You

With a proactive attitude and friendly demeanour, we are seeking an individual that can act with the big picture in mind, from an overall business perspective. The role requires experience in structural or mechanical engineering with ability to lead / advise teams to produce high-quality work in required timeframes. This role is an excellent opportunity for somebody who wants to make their mark in evolving the business, applying a results-driven approach.

Key result areas:

• Lead design projects with a focus on compliance and technical excellence.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and team members.
• Analyse structural systems for strength and serviceability conditions, including FEA analysis on load combinations with mechanical loads, both static and dynamic, wind, thermal, vibration, etc.
• Review and certify products through rigorous testing, analysis, and detailed reporting.
• Adequately address the client's scope while also considering legislative and national requirements.
• Contribute to management plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Proven ability to work in a busy and proactive team through design, review, and approval of works.
• High proficiency in Structural engineering design and documentation from design through to fabrication.
• Assist in the development and application of engineering and design standards, systems, and processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Highly developed organisational and time management skills for multiple concurrent designs in progress.
• Support business development efforts with technical expertise in proposals and presentations.
• Stay current with industry advancements and best practices.
• Passion for growth and success in a family environment.

Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 8 years of experience with a proven leadership record.
• Experience with FEA is a must.
• Ansys experience is desirable. Spacegas and Strand7 experience will also be looked at favourably.
• Extensive knowledge of Australian legislation and standards.
• Good knowledge of design processes, means, and methods in the metal manufacturing industry.
