Join us as a Web Software Engineer

• This is an opportunity for a technically minded individual to join us as a Web Software Engineer.
• You’ll be designing, producing, testing, and implementing working software, working across the lifecycle of the system.
• Hone your existing software engineering skills and advance your career in this critical role.
• You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend at least one day a week working from our Bristol or Manchester office.

What you'll do

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll develop knowledge of aspects of the platform across business, applications, data, and infrastructure. You’ll liaise with principal engineers, architects, and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and supports business objectives.

You’ll also be:

• Applying Agile methods to software development on the backlog.
• Producing resilient, long-lived software and adapting to future needs.
• Delivering intentional architecture and emergent design through innovation, experimentation, and prototyping.
• Designing and developing software with a focus on automating build, test, and deployment activities using executable patterns.

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone with strong full-stack experience in software design and implementation, capable of exploiting programming languages to solve complex problems. You should have experience with requirements analysis, validation, and working with business and systems needs.

Experience with Web development as a Software Engineer, including hands-on experience with build and packaging tools like WebPack, is essential. You should be passionate about building quality products in small, autonomous, agile teams, with a focus on automation testing and writing testable code. Skills in Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and testing tools such as Jest, Cypress, or PlayWright are required.

Additionally, you should demonstrate:

• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with business teams for pragmatic solutions.
• Knowledge of information security policies and practices within the financial sector.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts simply.
• Experience in creating reusable component libraries for wider use.
• Familiarity with code repositories, version control tools like Git, bug tracking tools, and wikis.
• Experience with Docker, DevOps, Agile methodologies, and related tools.
• Strong knowledge of Semantic HTML, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6).
• Experience in building high-performance user interfaces and complex web applications successfully shipped to customers.
