Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of £12.60 per hour - £24,638 per annum.

This temporary top-up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2025/26 is confirmed.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available within the Microbiology department for a fixed-term (1 year), part-time Medical Secretary (22.5 hours) based at the Royal Gwent Hospital. We are looking for a team player who enjoys a variety of administrative duties with attention to detail and who can work under pressure to meet deadlines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job
  1. Working within Microbiology, providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to both the clinical and laboratory teams in a timely manner.
  2. Ensuring the smooth running of the department on a day-to-day basis through administration and secretarial support.
  3. Liaising with a wide variety of service users and staff to provide information and/or signpost them to the most appropriate member of staff.
  4. Coordinating Health Protection activities for the department.

This post is fixed-term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying.
