Recovery Resettlement Practitioner (Housing Specialism) : Southend on Sea

Location: Southend on Sea

Salary: A GBP 26,339 (pro rata), plus benefits

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Part Time

We are recruiting for a Recovery Resettlement Practitioner (Housing Specialism) in Southend on Sea.

This is a part-time role for 17.5 hours per week. We offer flexible working arrangements. Some travel around the local area may be required, and a full UK driving licence and use of a car would be advantageous.

About The Role

The Recovery Housing support worker role sits within the Recovery Directorate and forms part of the Recovery Operations Team, utilizing all available resources. This post will support Forward Trust service users residing in supported housing units who are in abstinence-based recovery and committed to a recovery pathway.

The role focuses on a person-centered approach, enabling service users to sustain and maintain their recovery and reach their full potential. We work in partnership with many agencies to offer holistic and multidisciplinary services tailored to individual needs.

The Recovery Housing role is multi-skilled, providing support and interventions across various complexity levels and working across Forward Trust services to adapt to changing demands.

Formal line management support will be provided quarterly, with regular and open dialogue with your manager between sessions for clarification.

You will be responsible for meeting targets set by Forward Trust and your line management. Cooperative working relationships with partner agencies and internal staff are vital.

Some flexibility is required to support out-of-office hours to ensure continuous service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide a comprehensive, inclusive, and bespoke Recovery Housing service, including advice and guidance to Forward Trust clients.
  2. Conduct thorough housing needs assessments to identify client needs and develop bespoke support plans centered on the client, including signposting to other services.
  3. Promote services regularly to ensure appropriate referrals are received.
  4. Carry out assessments (risk, initial, comprehensive) to inform the treatment journey.
  5. Deliver interventions tailored to individual needs, including regular 1:1 sessions and weekly house meetings.
  6. Document assessment outcomes, recommendations, ongoing referrals, risk assessments, and care plans.
  7. Promote the Recovery Support service through regular visits and interactions with Forward services.
  8. Liaise with relevant government bodies, including Housing Benefit, Probation, DWP, etc.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  1. Knowledge and experience of the housing and homelessness sector, including floating support and tenancy sustainment.
  2. Thorough understanding of the needs of clients in abstinence-based recovery and experience in assessing adults needing support around housing, substance misuse, and maintaining recovery.
  3. Experience in the substance misuse field or a related area, with knowledge of the recovery agenda.
  4. Experience managing caseloads, conducting risk and comprehensive assessments, creating SMART action plans, and maintaining case records.
  5. Experience delivering 1:1 and group interventions using motivational techniques and trauma-informed approaches.
