Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Technical Director to lead infrastructure planning projects across the UK, with particular expertise in DCO projects. Due to significant wins and new opportunities, we are looking to expand our planning consents team. Our portfolio includes major infrastructure projects, leading on planning applications for renewables, energy, transport, defence, water, and more.

Our Town Planning team is national, supporting hybrid working. This role can be based from offices in Basingstoke, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Leeds, London, or Manchester.

You will join a talented team, handling diverse workloads and utilizing your skills fully.

Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction, lead reviews, and oversee solutions for major projects, including acting as Planning Lead and DCO Lead for NSIP applications.
2. People Development & Mentoring: Support junior staff, promote inclusion, and foster a diverse workforce.
3. Governance: Act as lead verifier on major design projects, ensuring quality and risk management.
4. Commercial & Technical Support: Demonstrate commercial awareness, manage multidisciplinary teams, and ensure project delivery within budget.
5. Bid Support: Contribute to bid development, oversee team deliverables, and uphold quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in leading large infrastructure consent applications, especially DCO regime.
• Strong client focus, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Proven consultancy skills in multidisciplinary environments and business development experience.
• Chartered Member of RTPI, relevant degree.
