Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Theatre Practitioner/Nurse within the Theatre Department at Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

We have 18 theatres covering specialties such as Orthopaedics, Vascular, Urology, Robotic Surgery, ENT, Max Fax, Ophthalmology, EVT, and Mechanical Thrombectomy.

You may be required to work across all these theatres. Key Responsibilities
  1. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring accurate and seamless information transfer and documentation.
  2. Adhere to all quality initiatives within the nursing environment, maintaining the highest standards of care at all times.
  3. Assist in developing clinical protocols, reviewing them regularly in conjunction with the Ward/Unit manager to meet service needs.
  4. Maintain accurate and legible patient records in line with professional and legal standards.
  5. Promote and sustain effective working relationships and communication with consultants, medical staff, nursing colleagues, and other multi-agency professionals.
  6. Act as the patient’s advocate.
  7. Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  8. Participate actively in planning effective, timely, and safe discharges in the Day Surgery Ward.
  9. Be clinically competent in all areas of advanced practice relevant to the role.
  10. Work to eliminate all avoidable infections by acting as a role model in infection prevention and control to staff, patients, and visitors.
  11. Ensure cleaning standards are maintained throughout your shift when in charge.
