Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team at HMP Rochester, a Category C men's prison. Join a supportive team working Monday to Friday/Sunday to maintain a safe and secure environment.

HMP Rochester functions like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of staff to operate. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the facility, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

You will work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators, all committed to making a positive difference.

Minimum Requirements:

• Two years' experience as a plumber or equivalent
• Knowledge of Water Supply Regulation and Legionella L8 requirements
• Experience with commercial or industrial heating and water systems
• Understanding of health and safety regulations
• Qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), and NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
• Strong health and safety knowledge
• Excellent organizational and people skills
