Role: Data Center Engineer
We are recruiting Engineers to work within a team responsible for cabling infrastructure and network hardware support at client sites. The role includes:
- Performing all types of patching, break-fix, circuit provisioning, and recovery.
- Disconnecting/reconnecting desktop and networking equipment.
- Rack and stacking Data Centre Hardware (e.g., Servers, Network, and Storage).
- Provisioning connectivity to Data Centre Hardware.
- Being available for out-of-hours work, including weekends and evenings, as part of an on-call rota.
- Auditing and documenting existing cabling installations.
- Auditing and documenting desktop configurations, including patching and power, for current and future user locations.
- Utilizing Cable Management Software for patching planning.
- Carrying out Data Wiping activities using software tools.
- Performing all types of patching/jumpering, including voice & data, copper & fibre.
- Testing and fault-finding on Copper and Fibre Cabling Infrastructure using modern testers.
- Terminating Copper Voice and Data cables as per the Onnec cabling systems portfolio.
- Conducting surveys and updating drawings and schedules.
- Installing and testing analogue, digital, and VOIP telephone handsets, providing headset support as needed.
- Building, Rack and Stacking Network and Server hardware in Data Centre Halls and ensuring connectivity.
- Performing Network Hardware break-fix activities such as replacing power supplies, modules, and fans.
- Experience working in Voice and Data Cabling environments.
- Thorough understanding of modern computer network infrastructure.
- Practical experience with fibre and copper voice and data cabling, including terminating, testing, and test parameters.
- Knowledge of Rack and Stack of Server Hardware and Systems.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and other Process and Asset Management Tools.
- Knowledge of Server Patching.
- Ability to use all types of modern Handheld Cable Standards Testers.
