Introduction:
A leading building services provider is seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to join a critical site in Sunderland. This is a great opportunity for engineers with experience in data centres or hospital environments to step into a highly technical role with training and development towards HVAP status.
Role Overview:
Working as part of an established on-site team, you’ll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance of electrical and building services systems in a high-availability, critical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
4 on 4 off shift rotation - days and nights (12-hour shifts)
Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
Ensure uptime of critical systems including UPS, generators, and switchgear
Complete fault diagnosis and rectification on electrical plant and systems
Maintain compliance with health & safety and site procedures
Work closely with other engineers and technical supervisors
Participate in emergency response and isolation procedures
Progress towards HV Authorised Person status within 12 months
Qualifications & Experience:
City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & 2 (or newer equivalents)
18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent qualification)
Previous experience working in a critical environment (data centres preferred, hospitals strongly considered)
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
Willingness to undertake HVAP training and certification
