Job summary

NUVIA UK is seeking an Engineering Lead for the Lifting Equipment project. You will coordinate the development of lifting solutions to support future operations and decommissioning activities, ensuring safety and compliance across designs.

You will manage requirements, interfaces and technical documentation, align with procurement, and lead engineering activities in a regulated nuclear environment. Hybrid working options available.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) or on track for registration.
  • Experience delivering engineering projects in regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015, LOLER and PUWER.

Responsibilities

For the Lifting Equipment Project, the role holder shall act as the engineering lead responsible for the development of lifting solutions required to support future facility operations and decommissioning activities. This includes the capture of stakeholder requirements, development of engineering specifications, coordination of engineering assessments, management of design activities and support to implementation, ensuring that lifting solutions are safe, compliant, practical and fit for purpose.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Act as the Engineering Lead for the Lifting Equipment project, coordinating the development of lifting solutions required to support future operational and decommissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder, operational and engineering requirements for the BeHF lifting equipment project.
  • Manage engineering design activities associated with the BeHF lifting equipment package, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, practical and fit for purpose.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces between engineering disciplines, operations personnel, safety case specialists, Health Physics, project teams and facility stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with applicable legislation and standards, including LOLER, PUWER, CDM Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and UKAEA requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, scopes of work and engineering documentation required to support project delivery.
  • Lead procurement-related engineering activities associated with the AGHS Future Services project.
  • Assess procurement options and develop recommendations for equipment acquisition strategies, including purchase, lease, rental or alternative delivery models.
  • Work closely with Procurement, Legal and Commercial teams to develop procurement documentation and support tendering activities.
  • Conduct technical evaluation of supplier proposals and support equipment selection and contract award recommendations.
  • Manage engineering actions, technical risks, assumptions, opportunities and project dependencies across both projects.
  • Support project governance activities, including design reviews, readiness reviews, gate reviews and project reporting.
Profile

Qualifications:

  • Degree (BEng, MEng, BSc or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or other relevant engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or demonstrable progress towards professional registration.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering engineering projects within the nuclear, infrastructure, energy, construction or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with the application of CDM Regulations 2015 within engineering and construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER requirements.
  • Formal project management or engineering management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMI or equivalent) is desirable.

Experience:

  • Engineering Delivery experience supporting the delivery of engineering projects through design, procurement and implementation phases.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities and technical interfaces.
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering specifications, requirements and technical documentation.
  • Experience managing technical risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
  • Lifting Equipment and Mechanical Systems Experience developing or supporting lifting equipment, handling systems or mechanical plant projects.
  • Experience supporting design reviews and engineering assurance activities.
  • Experience engaging with operations personnel to ensure engineering solutions are practical, safe and maintainable.
  • Experience supporting installation, testing, commissioning or acceptance activities.
  • Procurement and Supplier Management Experience preparing technical specifications and scopes of work for engineered plant and equipment.
  • Experience supporting procurement and tendering activities.
  • Experience evaluating supplier proposals and technical submissions.
  • Experience managing technical interfaces with suppliers, contractors and consultants.
  • Experience acting as an intelligent customer for externally delivered engineering work.
  • Industry Experience of working within nuclear, defence, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting facility modifications, plant upgrades or equipment replacement projects.
  • Experience delivering projects involving significant stakeholder engagement is desirable
