Job description

Our engineering design consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support Water clients based out of their Bridgend office on a permanent basis.

Key skills required for this role

Responsibilities

Technical

• Sound approach to the application of engineering practice.
• Preparation of outline & detailed design in accordance with relevant design standards.
• Preparation of clear and well-structured design calculations, reports, drawings, and other deliverables.
• Knowledge and experience of BIM-led design, and ability to use common structural design software such as STAAD Pro, FEM Analysis and Design, or Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis.

Project Management

• Plan for effective project implementation.
• Manage planning and organisation of tasks, people, and resources to deliver successful projects within time and budget.
• Prepare and control project budgets and understand commercial frameworks.
• Ensure work complies with internal quality standards, health & safety, and environmental legislation.

People

• Provide technical training and mentoring to Engineers, Graduate Engineers, and Technicians.
• Coordinate work of team members to ensure timely and robust project delivery.

Stakeholder

• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and supply chain to develop project objectives.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships.

Skills, knowledge, and qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Good motivation and people management skills.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, UK Industry Codes of Practice, and ability to mentor others.
• Willingness to work in various UK offices and client sites for short-term assignments.
• Valid UK/EEC driving license.
• Chartered membership of a relevant professional body or working towards it.
• Strong technical design experience on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Performance-focused and innovative in delivering cost-effective solutions.
