Senior Systems Engineer (AWS)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, to drive technical innovation, ensure robust system performance, and maintain the highest levels of security. This is a critical role requiring a deep understanding of cloud technologies, cloud architecture design, and DevOps best practices. Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, a focus on security, and a proactive approach to optimisation are essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cloud Engineering: Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud infrastructure.
2. DevOps and Automation: Champion a DevOps culture and streamline CI/CD processes with tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
3. Security and Compliance: Implement strong security frameworks, maintain industry best practices, and ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO 27001).
4. Performance Optimisation: Monitor, assess, and optimise system performance, utilising Cloudflare to enhance security and speed.
5. Migration and Modernisation: Lead migration projects, modernising legacy systems and adopting serverless technologies where appropriate.
6. Cost Management: Drive efficiency through cost optimisation strategies and effective budget management.
7. Team Leadership: Mentor technical teams and promote a collaborative, innovative, and knowledge-sharing environment.

Technical Skills & Experience

• In-depth expertise in AWS services, serverless environments, and containerised solutions.
• Strong experience in infrastructure management and cloud architecture.
• Proficiency in Cloudflare services including DNS, CDN, and Web Application Firewall.
• Solid understanding of networking principles, security protocols, and encryption techniques.
• Skilled in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
• Familiarity with PHP development and web application frameworks is advantageous.
