Job Description:

Responsibilities include: Delivering on-site and virtual health and safety awareness training to construction industry employers at their sites or via our Mobile Training Unit. Supporting the development and updating of training materials to ensure relevance and effectiveness.

Main Duties:
  1. Organising and preparing training sessions with necessary resources.
  2. Developing and updating training materials for both classroom and virtual audiences.
  3. Collaborating with the in-house team to maximize training opportunities.
  4. Supporting customers with their training needs through effective delivery and advice.
  5. Assisting in developing training strategies, operational plans, and budgets.
  6. Delivering specific topics using existing training packs, mainly Health and Safety relevant to the construction sector in Northern Ireland, either in person or online.
  7. Evaluating and improving facilitation and training practices, maintaining current knowledge of industry developments.
  8. Presenting orally and in reports, including statistical data on courses.
  9. Managing equipment and resources securely and operating equipment per manufacturer’s instructions.
  10. Monitoring service quality and cost, implementing remedial actions when necessary.
  11. Assessing and mitigating health and safety risks associated with the department.
  12. Ensuring professionalism and dignity for all trainees, adhering to equality policies, and making reasonable adjustments for participation.
  13. Contributing to wider health and safety initiatives, such as risk assessments.
  14. Performing other duties as required.
Minimum Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years’ experience delivering training to small groups.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety laws in Northern Ireland and relevant codes of practice.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with all levels of customers and reporting.
  • Strong time management and workload prioritization skills.
  • Experience in developing and updating training materials.
  • Experience in health and safety risk assessments, not necessarily within construction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Teams.
  • Relevant training/teaching or instructional qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH, or willingness to achieve.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry in Northern Ireland or similar fields.
  • Experience delivering online training methods.
Personal Commitments:
  • Willingness to travel across Northern Ireland for training sessions.
  • Availability outside normal hours; travel and setup required, with flexi-time options.
  • Access to a vehicle insured for business use.
