Job Description
Salary: £34,115 per annum
Responsibilities:
- Deliver onsite and virtual health and safety awareness training to construction industry employers at their sites or venues, including using our Mobile Training Unit as a classroom.
- Support the development and updating of face-to-face and virtual training materials to ensure they are current.
- Organise and prepare training sessions, ensuring necessary resources and equipment are available.
- Collaborate with internal teams to maximise training opportunities.
- Assist customers with their training needs through effective delivery, support, and advice.
- Contribute to developing and implementing training strategies, operational plans, and budgets.
- Deliver specific topics using existing training packs, mainly related to health and safety in the construction sector in Northern Ireland, via in-person or online methods.
- Continuously evaluate and improve facilitation and training practices, maintaining personal competence and industry knowledge.
- Present information clearly both orally and in reports, including statistical data on courses.
- Ensure the security and proper operation of all equipment and resources.
- Monitor service quality, effectiveness, and costs, taking remedial actions as necessary.
- Assess health and safety risks associated with departmental activities and implement preventive measures.
- Treat all trainees professionally and with dignity, adhere to equality policies, and make reasonable adjustments for fair participation.
- Participate in wider health and safety initiatives, such as updating risk assessments.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 2 years’ experience delivering training to small groups.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety laws in Northern Ireland and relevant codes of practice.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly and writing reports.
- Strong time management and workload prioritisation skills.
- Experience in developing and updating training materials.
- Experience in conducting health and safety risk assessments, not necessarily within construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Relevant training/teaching or instructional qualification or willingness to obtain one.
- Relevant health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH or willingness to achieve one.
- Knowledge of the construction industry in Northern Ireland or experience managing health and safety in similar fields.
- Experience delivering online training methods.
Personal Commitments
- Willingness to travel around Northern Ireland for training delivery.
- Availability to attend training outside normal hours, including travel and setup time (flexible hours available).
