The Solutions Engineer, also known as a 'Pre-sales Consultant' or 'Sales Engineer', is a technical role within the sales team. It offers an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals with strong technical, collaboration, and presentation skills to participate in sales activities and business development.

A solutions engineer is a product and market expert for one or several product lines within the Fortra portfolio. You will work with leading companies worldwide, providing guidance during the sales process by identifying customers' technical and business requirements, demonstrating product capabilities, and designing the best solution proposal for the customer. You will also participate in marketing activities such as webinars, tradeshows, and content creation.

As a Solutions Engineer for Offensive Security, you'll manage pre-sales activities for solutions from our portfolio, focusing on Offensive Security (Core Impact, Cobalt Strike, Outflank). This role has global responsibility and offers opportunities to learn about other security solutions in the Fortra portfolio, including Data Classification, DRM, Fortra VM, or GoAnywhere MFT.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Collaborate closely with sales representatives on activities with prospective customers.
  • Understand customer needs and articulate suitable solutions.
  • Develop, present, and deliver impactful demonstrations.
  • Manage the customer's evaluation process, including trials and proofs of concept.
  • Identify and address technical and functional objections during the sales process.
  • Build and present proposals to customers, including C-level executives.
  • Estimate professional services efforts and develop project plans for successful deployments.
  • Understand the competition and differentiate our solutions.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities within the company portfolio.
Partnership Activities
  • Engage with partners in visits, demos, proposals, and events.
  • Assist in partner recruiting and enablement, including technical training.
  • Deliver technical presentations and respond to technical questions during sales calls.
Industry Events
  • Represent the company at trade shows, user groups, conferences, and virtual events.
  • Deliver presentations at events where applicable.
Product / Technical Marketing
  • Participate in webinars on specific topics.
  • Assist in launching new products and updates.
  • Serve as a market expert on our solutions, including usage, competition, and sales strategies.
As a Solutions Engineer, you are expected to:
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a working knowledge of most of Fortra's solutions.
  • Be a technical expert on your assigned products.
  • Continuously learn sales processes, market knowledge, and soft skills development.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four-year degree in a technical field, preferably Computer Science or IT.
  • At least 4 years of experience in IT, presales, consultancy, development, or support.
  • Minimum 2 years in cybersecurity areas such as offensive security, vulnerability management, penetration testing, red teaming, MDR, or EDR.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and training skills in a technical environment.
  • Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
  • Strong hands-on technical knowledge, experience in blue/red team exercises, or delivering security-related services.
  • Certifications like CEH, CRTO, CISSP, etc.
  • Experience with solutions like Pentera, Qualys, Rapid7, Tenable, Metasploit, or others.
  • Experience with Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) solutions.
  • Knowledge of Threat Management and Modeling.
