Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (Remote work possible), this role involves maintaining and commissioning telecommunications infrastructure, including high-speed fibre and copper networks, primarily along major motorway routes such as the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

As part of a dedicated team, you will troubleshoot network issues, ensure timely completion of commissioning activities, and maintain safety standards. Your responsibilities include attending to cable repairs, testing equipment, and documenting all tasks accurately.

What you’ll do:

• Repair copper and fibre cable breaks to maintain network integrity.
• Complete equipment commissioning to standard, on time and within budget.
• Respond to equipment issues in transmission buildings and roadside cabinets, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, testing, and commissioning of fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all required documentation promptly.

Who you are:

You should have prior experience in a similar role, with skills in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications systems or similar equipment.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as needed.
• Full UK driving licence.
