A leading regulatory body is seeking a FinTech Market Analyst to drive innovation and support the FCA's strategic goals. The role involves analyzing market trends, managing projects, and fostering relationships within the financial services ecosystem. FinTech Market Analyst
Division: Digital, Technology and Innovation (DTI)
Salary - National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £80,600 and London £57,700 to £88,600 per annum (Salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

The Innovation department sits within Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) and works to support the FCA in being an innovative regulator by leading and empowering innovation to drive beneficial and sustainable change.
Our innovation services are designed to support innovative firms (FinTech/RegTech/EmTech) at any stage of maturity, from collaboration, initial idea and proof of concept, to obtaining authorisation and scaling up in the market (as relevant). We also provide critical research and insights to inform FCA activities and build thought leadership on technology and innovation are transforming the financial services industry.
The RegTech/SupTech team leads on research, engagement and collaboration activities across regulatory technologies (RegTech) and supervisory technologies (SupTech) to inform FCA activities and enable compliance innovation in the market. Last year we also established a cross-departmental FinTech Market Analysis function to track trends in the FinTech, RegTech and related markets. This was designed to support our data-led approach to regulatory innovation and supports the Innovation department in delivery of its ‘horizontal’ priority themes (AI, tokenisation, financial inclusion and open finance).
What will you be doing?
Lead initiatives as part of the Innovation market analysis function, analysing short-term trends in the FinTech / RegTech / and EmTech markets
Play an active role in delivery of the department’s Blueprint (strategy) aligned to four horizontal priority areas (i.e. Financial Inclusion & Digital ID, Open Finance, Artificial Intelligence, and Tokenisation) and the innovation and growth pillar of Strategy 25
Build, develop and maintain relationships with firms / trade bodies / academia / other relevant organisations in the areas of FinTech / RegTech
Support a framework of activity through which supervisory and policy functions gain further understanding of technologies being employed by firms to comply with regulation
Represent the FCA domestically on matters related to FinTech with industry, trade bodies and other regulator

Minimum
Strong interest in and technical understanding of the current technologies underpinning the FinTech, RegTech and SupTech sectors - you will engage regularly with FinTech and RegTech firms and will therefore need an interest in FinTech and innovation as well as an open-minded approach to responsible innovation and growth
Demonstrable expertise in successfully taking initiatives from a planning to an implementation stage
Demonstrable experience manipulating data to explain market trends (qualitative and quantitative)
Essential
Strong written and oral communication skills: ability to inspire confidence and clearly explain complex, technical concepts to audiences less familiar with subject matter
Experience of project management: you will need to be able to manage and deliver high profile projects, which are impactful and demonstrate value for money
Strong stakeholder management skills: ability to forge strong and meaningful relationships at all levels to achieve positive outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the UK financial services ecosystem and the FCA’s tools and powers: you will need to consider how we might be able to use our tools and powers to support the development of innovative business models
