Job summary
The post holder is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership for the mental health agenda across Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust; supporting the Trust to further develop a culture that recognises and promotes parity of esteem for all patients.
The post holder will lead on the development and implementation of a Mental Health strategy for the organisation which aligns with national, regional and local priorities and which supports improvements in patient care and experience through system working and staff development.
The post holder is accountable and responsible for the strategic development, leadership and management of the organisation's mental health agenda, providing advice and leadership to the clinical teams and quality improvement agenda. This will include designing and implementing initiatives/ projects to enhance the quality of care, experience and safety for people attending the Trust with combined physical and mental health needs across both adult and children's services.
Main duties of the jobLead the development and delivery of the Trust's strategy for mental health services ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory, legal frameworks and relevant national guidance.
Act as a subject matter expert and practice at an advanced level regarding the care of patients with mental illness, including legal aspects to detention, patient and environmental assessments, treatment, restraint and discharge.
Lead change management programmes related to mental health services within the trust.
Maintain own clinical development by keeping abreast of new interventions, treatments and technologies within acute and mental health care
Strategy & Policy Development
Lead on the development and implementation of a Mental Health strategy for the organisation which aligns with national, regional and local priorities and which supports improvements in patient care and experience through system working and staff development.
To ensure the timely development of policies, which reflect national guidance, regulatory and legal frameworks, are evidence- based and which are accessible to staff from all professional backgrounds. Ensure regularly reviewed to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
