Job description

Job Introduction

Do you have a caring nature? Are you looking to make a difference in people's lives? Do you want to work in an environment where no two days are the same? Are you flexible with your working hours? Can you see yourself providing care to adults who need your support?

If you answered YES to these questions, we would love to hear from you.

How do I get there? This service is easily accessible by car, with an estimated travel time of 18 minutes depending on traffic. Therefore, being a driver is essential as the service is not on a bus route.

At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference in residents' lives by helping to improve their daily living skills. Passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career, gaining experience and training to progress with us.

Where will I be working?

The service is located in the beautiful countryside of Weston under Wetherley. There are six individuals we support who have varying levels of Learning Disabilities. The bungalow is purpose-built and overlooks countryside and fields of horses. The residents may have health issues such as Dementia, epilepsy, mobility issues, non-verbal communication, and require personal care.

Staff will develop communication skills and work in a person-centred way to enhance lives and bring quality to everyday living within a well-established team.

We aim to create positive family relationships and offer a good circle of support. Our focus is on supporting individuals' lives in a person-centred manner, including activities like shopping, managing budgets, cooking, and enabling independence.

We use a digital social care record system to support daily recording, making your tasks easier and allowing more time to spend with the People We Support.

Shift Patterns

This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is essential. You will work a range of shifts including early mornings, late evenings, waking nights, sleep-ins, and some weekends.

What will I be doing?

This hands-on role involves:

  • Organising activities in the home and community
  • Developing residents' life skills and interests
  • Helping residents stay safe and healthy
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Manual handling
  • Supporting medication management
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring

The Ideal Candidate

What skills and qualities do I need?

Knowledge of learning disabilities and complex needs is beneficial but not essential. Essential qualities include:

  • Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
  • Flexible, patient, and non-judgemental
  • A great team player with energy
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks like manual handling
