Job summary

Busy Bees Heworth Nursery in York is seeking an experienced Early Years Teacher to lead planning and delivery under the EYFS framework. You will own observation, assessment and planning for your key children, guiding next steps and ensuring inclusive practice.

You will mentor team members, collaborate on curriculum development, and act as Key Person to families, supporting SEND/ASL needs while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for children to thrive.

Qualifications

  • Experience implementing the EYFS framework in a nursery setting.
  • Ability to observe, assess and plan for key children, with next steps.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills to support a team and curriculum development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and delivery with expert EYFS knowledge in line with the early years curriculum.
  • Own observation, assessment and planning for your key children and provide developmentally challenging next steps.
  • Mentor and guide team members, contributing to curriculum development.
  • Take on the Key Person role, building strong relationships with families and supporting SEND/ASL needs.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive environment that supports children’s emotional and social development.
  • Celebrate and acknowledge children’s development and achievements.

About our Nursery

Busy Bees Heworth is an Ofsted-rated "Good" nursery with a capacity of 45 children, housed in a charming redbrick building. The nursery features cozy rooms designed for playing and learning in a secure environment where children can develop new skills and thrive. There is also a secure playground that encourages toddlers and preschoolers to explore and spark their imaginations. Located in the leafy northern suburbs of York on Heworth Green, the nursery is accessible via the A1036 and multiple nearby bus stops, including Monk Bridge, Eboracum Way, and Heworth Inn. York train station is about a 30-minute walk away. The facility also offers free parking for added convenience.

Role Responsibilities
What to expect as an Early Years Teacher
  • Lead the planning and delivery with your expert knowledge of the EYFS framework.of age-appropriate activities in line with the early years curriculum.
  • Take ownership of the observation, assessments and planning for your key children in line with EYFS and provide developmentally challenging next steps.
  • Mentor and guide team members, contributing to curriculum development.
  • Take on the role of Key Person, maintaining b relationships with familie and support parents with any SEND/ASL needs.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment that supports children’s emotional and social development.
  • Ensure we encourage and praise children’s development and achievements.
Required Qualifications: Ideal Candidate
  • Hold QTS, EYTS or EYPS qualification.
  • Extensive experience in an early years setting (ideally as a Nursery Teacher or Early Years Teacher).
  • Leadership and mentoring skills.
