Lockerbie nursery is seeking an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee. The role involves working 31 hours per week over 39 weeks per year. This fixed-term position is valid until 18/08/2026 and may be suitable for secondment. Applicants must seek agreement from their line manager before applying.
The working pattern will be discussed at interview.

This is an exciting opportunity to train and work in Early Learning and Childcare. Dumfries and Galloway Council is looking for motivated, child-centered individuals to support young children and their families in this expanding sector.
As a Dumfries and Galloway Council employee, you will be part of the Early Learning and Childcare team, making a positive impact on children's lives. You will nurture children indoors and outdoors, deliver stimulating learning experiences, encourage creativity, problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship-building. Training will be provided as you work as an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee.
Candidates will be expected to undertake work-based training to achieve an SCQF Level 6/7. Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is required, with conditions to obtain an SVQ qualification.
This role is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or complete a PVG scheme update check before a formal job offer is made.
Applicants who have resided outside the UK within the last 5 years must provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in their country of residence, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
