Job Title: Early Years Support Assistant Trainee (Fixed Term)

Location: Belmont Primary School, Galloway Avenue, DG9 7BH

Salary: £18,539.89 - £19,476.15 per year

Contract Type: Temporary

Belmont nursery is seeking an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee. This role involves working 31 hours per week over 39 weeks per year. The position is fixed term until 18/08/2026 and may be suitable for secondment with prior approval from your line manager. The working pattern will be discussed at interview.

Belmont nursery caters to pre-school aged children, providing an enriching and nurturing environment to promote independence and curiosity indoors and outdoors.

This is an exciting opportunity to work and train in Early Learning and Childcare. Dumfries and Galloway Council is recruiting motivated, child-centred individuals to support young children and their families in this expanding sector.

As part of the Early Learning and Childcare team, you will make a meaningful difference in children’s lives by nurturing and delivering stimulating learning experiences, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, negotiation, and relationship-building. Training will be provided as you work towards becoming an Early Years Support Assistant Trainee.

Candidates will undertake work-based training to achieve an SCQF Level 6/7 and must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) to obtain the SVQ qualification.

This role is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join or update their PVG Scheme membership prior to a formal offer of employment.

Applicants with residency outside the UK within the last 5 years will need to provide a police record check from the relevant authorities in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check.
