Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking an Early Years, Reception & SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time, academic year placement in Droylsden, Manchester. You will support pupils in EYFS and Reception and assist with SEN needs to help children access the curriculum.

Early Years, Reception & SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Droylsden, Manchester
Job Type: Full-Time
Contract: Full Academic Year
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Droylsden is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis for the full academic year.

This rewarding opportunity involves supporting pupils across Early Years and Reception, alongside providing tailored support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment and supporting children's academic, social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning within Early Years and Reception classrooms.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils who require additional assistance.
  • Work closely with children with a range of SEN needs, helping them access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist in delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Encourage children's independence, confidence and wellbeing.
  • Support positive behaviour and classroom routines.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have experience working with primary-aged children, particularly within EYFS.
  • Have experience supporting children with SEN in either an educational or care-based setting.
  • Be patient, caring and committed to helping children reach their full potential.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
