Job summary

Conwy County Borough Council in Colwyn Bay is seeking a Childcare Quality & Development Officer to support families and childcare providers under the Welsh Government Funded Childcare for 2 Year Olds programme. Based in a Family centre, you will travel across Conwy to provide guidance and practical support to families and childcare providers.

The role requires experience creating safe, stimulating environments, promoting early learning, observing children to track progress, and collaborating

Qualifications

• Experience creating caring, safe and stimulating environments for young children.
• Ability to support families as their child begins childcare journey.
• Understanding the importance of high-quality play opportunities for pre-school children.
• Experience supporting children’s progress and development through observation-based assessment.
• Good knowledge of child development and learning.
• Ability to support and promote children’s speech, language and communication development.
• Enjoys working in partnership with parents and carers to support children’s progress at home.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and practical support to childcare providers and families.
• Based in a Family centre and travel across Conwy to support families and providers.
• Lead activities for children and converse with families in Welsh where required for one post.
• Work with the Welsh Government Funded Childcare programme to improve access to high-quality childcare.
• Ensure safeguarding via Enhanced DBS check.
