Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking an Early Years Practitioner for day-to-day supply across Haringey and surrounding areas. You will help develop the learning of children aged 0–5, plan activities aligned with EYFS, and record progress.

Collaboration with staff and parents is essential to foster a safe, engaging environment. Ideal candidates will have the relevant Early Years qualification, experience in nurseries, a warm disposition, strong EYFS knowledge, and excellent teamwork.

• Experience working with children in nursery or early years settings.
• Warm, caring and patient approach to supporting young children.
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
• Enhanced DBS check required or willingness to obtain one.

Early Years Practitioner – Day-to-day supply from as soon as possible

These flexible opportunities are ideal for Early Years Practitioners who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different nursery and school settings, working acrossHaringey and the surrounding areas.

Duties as Early Years Practitioner:

• Support the learning and development of children aged 0–5


• Assist with planning and delivering engaging activities in line with the EYFS framework


• Promote a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment


• Observe and record children’s progress and contribute to learning journals


• Support children with personal care routines and hygiene


• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support each child’s development


• Maintain a clean, organised, and inclusive learning space

Ideal Early Years Practitioner:

• Relevant Early Years qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Early Years Education)


• Experience working with children in nursery or early years settings


• A warm, caring, and patient approach to supporting young children


• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development


• Excellent communication and teamwork skills


• A flexible and proactive attitude to working across different settings


• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
