Job summary

Step Teachers is actively seeking an Early Years Practitioner for day-to-day supply across Edgware and surrounding areas. You will support the development of children aged 0–5, helping plan and deliver activities aligned with EYFS.

Ideal candidates have Level 2 or 3 in childcare/early years, excellent communication, and a caring, patient approach. DBS checks and safeguarding awareness are essential, with weekly PAYE payments.

Qualifications

• Qualified Early Years practitioner with EYFS knowledge.
• Experience in nursery or early years settings.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS and Update Service.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Duties as Early Years Practitioner:

• Support the learning and development of children aged 0–5
• Assist with planning and delivering engaging activities in line with the EYFS framework
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment
• Observe and record children’s progress and contribute to learning journals
• Support children with personal care routines and hygiene
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to support each child’s development
• Maintain a clean, organised, and inclusive learning space

Ideal Early Years Practitioner:

• Relevant Early Years qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Early Years Education)
• Experience working with children in nursery or early years settings
• A warm, caring, and patient approach to supporting young children
• Strong understanding of the EYFS framework and child development
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A flexible and proactive attitude to working across different settings
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
