The University of Warwick Nursery seeks a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner to join a small team caring for babies on a rotating shift schedule.

You will work 7.5-hour shifts between 8.15am and 5.45pm, on Warwick campus, under supervision within a team of six staff looking after eighteen babies. Work Location
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role and business operation requirements, the successful applicant will be required to work the majority of their time on University of Warwick Campus - Nursery.

This position includes +1 hour of contractual overtime per week.

As a member of the Nursery, you will play an essential role in supporting the children and nursery staff over the lunch time and staff breaks.

You will work 7.5-hour shifts between 8.15am-5.45pm on a rota basis.

You will initially be working in a team of 6 staff and 18 babies and will be a key person to a small group and will build a close relationship with those babies and their families.

Your responsibilities will include making observations of babies play to inform your assessments of their development. Planning challenging and exciting activities to support the babies learning and to enable them to reach their potential.

About You

You will be a level 2 qualified Early Years Practitioner, at least. Persons with level 3 and above qualifications will be welcomed.

Your qualification must be recognised by the Department for Education on the approved qualifications list.

You will have a proven record of excellence in working with babies and young children. You will be an innovative and accomplished practitioner.

Safeguarding the babies and young children in our care is our paramount concern so you will have safeguarding knowledge and understand that Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Proactive and resourceful, you will be a highly organised team player with excellent communication skills who is able to build relationships with children and their parents. You will also be able to demonstrate a willingness to participate in continuing professional development.

About The Department

The University of Warwick Nursery has a long history of providing excellence in Early Years Care and Education, having been judged as outstanding by OFSTED three times since 2011.

The Nursery provides full day care for children aged between 3 months and 5 years and is open all year round, except for the period between Christmas and the new year when we are closed.

The nursery is in a beautiful area of the main campus beside the lake in the Lakeside Village. We have a purpose-built nursery which can accommodate up to 78 children.

We employ 36 staff including apprentices, Early Years Practitioners, admin staff and support staff. You will be joining a well-established team and be part of a supportive organisation.

We offer all nursery staff regular supervisions and continuous professional development.
