Overview

Hunnitots Day Nursery at Ipswich Hospital are looking for an Early Years Practitioner to join the nursery team to provide care for children aged 4 months to 5 yrs.

Hunnitots Day Nursery, based at Ipswich Hospital, has approximately 70 to 80 children booked in each day. Parents have a choice of in excess of 10 different sessions within the hours of 7 am to 6 pm. The choice provided aims to accommodate the variety of staff working patterns at Ipswich Hospital (part of East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust).

We are looking for someone with excellent communication and listening skills to plan the day and respond to the different needs of the children we teach. You will be enthusiastic and well organised, and have a Childcare qualification at level 2 or level 3. This is a fixed term/secondment post until 1 February 2026.

Responsibilities
  • To care for the physical and emotional needs of each child, showing an understanding of children’s needs in the early years.
  • To help create a happy and loving atmosphere in which each child can develop as an individual, through play and learning life skills.
  • To create and develop a stimulating environment to meet the needs of individual children, being aware of the needs of different age groups in line with The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).
