Job summary

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in Childcare or Early Years suitable for the position.
• Experience with babies, toddlers or preschool children in a nursery.
• Strong understanding of EYFS.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to plan engaging activities.
• Passion for supporting learning and development.
• Caring, patient and professional approach.
• Willingness to continue professional development.
• Experience with additional needs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and early education for babies, toddlers and preschool children.
• Support learning and development in line with the EYFS framework.
• Plan and deliver creative, age-appropriate learning activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence, communication and social skills through play.
• Observe, assess and record progress, identifying individual learning needs.
• Support children with SEND and foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming and nurturing nursery environment.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Work with colleagues to ensure consistency in care and education.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and nursery policies.
• Support personal care routines, including meals, hygiene and rest periods.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Participate in staff meetings, training and development.
• Contribute to a positive nursery team.
