Job summary

City of Edinburgh Council is inviting applications for an Early Years Assistant at Gylemuir Primary School. The role is 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with shifts from 7.45am to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, across early, core and late slots. Salary ranges from £26,806 to £27,032.

You will support young children in a warm, caring, child-centred environment, with a commitment to equality and inclusion and strong collaboration with families and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience of working as an Early Years Assistant is desirable.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) and planning/organisational abilities.
• Must be registered with SSSC or equivalent and attain SVQ Level 2 within 3 years.

• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing through high-quality play experiences.
• Help create an inclusive, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
• Support children to develop confidence, independence, and social skills.
• Build positive and nurturing relationships with children.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues.
• Help prepare and maintain stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
• Support children with their individual needs and promote inclusion for all.
• Contribute to observations and discussions about children's learning and development.
• Follow safeguarding, health, safety and wellbeing policies.
