Job summary

St Helens Council is seeking an Early Help Social Worker on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2029. The role sits within Children’s Services and focuses on screening contacts, assessing needs and planning supported outcomes for families.

You will work in a Multi-Agency Safeguarding context, liaising with partner agencies to gather a full picture and make timely, well-judged decisions in line with thresholds and risk.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Social Work is required for this post.
• Enhanced DBS Disclosure and Social Work England Registration are required.
• Experience in a Multi-Agency Safeguarding team or transferable skills is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Screen contacts that have not met threshold for Children's Social Care.
• Assess support needs and recommend a plan of support.
• Liaise with partner agencies to gather a full picture of a child’s lived experiences.
• Apply appropriate threshold and analyse level and risk of impact.
